Campaign Mode is one of the gamemodes in Rebel Inc., aside from the main game and scenarios.

In this mode, your mission is to stabilise an entire country by progressing through five individual regions. If there is even one loss (or 2 in the same region, if the Player Tactic "Combat Simulator" is active), the entire campaign fails.

Campaign Mode is available on PC after you beat Saffron Fields, while on Mobile, you'll have to pay 4.99 USD.

Gameplay

Campaign Mode offers the same gameplay as the main game, with the following changes.

Modifiers

After passing each map, the player gets to pick a Player Tactic (1 star after the first and third, 2 star after the second and fourth), while the insurgents get to pick Insurgent Tactics after the first and third. These persist for the entire campaign (the most recent insurgent tactic may be removed if the Player Tactic "Counter Intelligence" appears). Each map has its own set of 4 Map Features, including a major and three minor ones.

If the player is playing on Casual difficulty, the "Casual Mode" modifier overrides one minor feature on all maps, leaving the player with only two of them. Likewise, some of the aforementioned modifiers don't appear on Mega Brutal.

The first two maps start with a number of Government-Controlled stable zones diminishing in quantity, while the last three would contain insurgent-controlled zones increasing in numbers, and if allied forces enter there before the insurgency starts, the insurgency is accelerated by ~2 months.

Maps may randomly contain Soldier Upgrade Depots, and can spawn Caves.

Governor/Advisor exhaustion

Governors and Advisors will be exhausted upon completing a map with them. Any Advisor can only be used once. Exhausted governors are usable, but each additional use stacks up to three instances of these penalties:

  • Less starting intel (This is not observable on Mega Brutal without Player Tactics that provide extra intel like Intelligence Gathering or Mass Intelligence Gathering because by default only the HQ zone has intel)
  • Less starting funds (Down to -58$)
  • Reduced annual budget. (Down to -12$/year)
  • Increased initial insurgent capability. (Up to 1.7 times than normal)

Governors and Advisors do not recover, forcing one to seek different options for each map. On the other hand, this mechanic is absent with the Espresso Shots Player Tactic.

Exclusive events

Some events (mostly crisis) can happen while playing a map inside the campaign. Each end result can depend on whether the player buys the correct number of initiatives:

  • [1] If player doesn't buy any, will reduce Support level
  • [2] If player does buy an initiative, will slightly increase local Support level.
  • [3] If player does buy the full branch, will increase local Support level and gain (4-5) reputation.

Below is the list of crisis:

Event Initiative(s) needed to unlock [2] Initiative(s) needed to unlock [3]
Cholera outbreak in multiple region Basic Sanitation initiative Advanced Sanitation initiative
Economic crisis impacts multiple regions At least 2 Development Initiatives At least 5 Development Initiatives
Phone line demand spikes in multiple regions for 'Talent Search' Telecoms I initiative Telecoms II initiative

Nearby region stabilised

When the player has stabilised other regions in the past, they will support the current region of player by giving money and reputation in the exact turns that the previous region has stabilised.

The money and reputation given to the current region depends on how much money and reputation are left when the player wins the previous region. (Min is +$1 and +1 reputation; e.g., when a player wins a region with 100$ and 150 reputation left, they will support the other regions about +21$ and 22 reputation)
